Engagespot

Engagespot focuses on making in-app notification centers easy to embed (drop-in React component) while also handling multi-channel notification routing (email, SMS, push, Slack, Discord). For agents: send notifications to users via the API, and users see them in the embedded in-app feed in real-time via WebSocket. Workflow automation handles conditional routing and delays. Engagespot is simpler than Novu in workflow complexity but well-suited for teams that primarily need in-app notifications with multi-channel fallback. Self-hostable core. Generous free tier. REST API at api.engagespot.co/v3. Resources: notifications, users, workflows. POST /v3/notifications sends a notification ({recipients: [user_id], notification: {title, message, url, icon, data}}). POST /v3/workflows/{workflow_id}/trigger triggers a workflow for recipients. GET /v3/users/{id} retrieves a user's notification state. POST /v3/users creates/upserts a user. GET /v3/users/{id}/notifications lists a user's notifications. React SDK (@engagespot/react-component): <EngagespotProvider apiKey={} userId={} userToken={}> wraps app and provides real-time feed. WebSocket for real-time delivery to in-app feed.

Dual auth: X-ENGAGESPOT-API-KEY: {api_key} and X-ENGAGESPOT-API-SECRET: {api_secret} headers for server-side calls. App ID + user-specific HMAC token for client-side SDK authentication. Keys from Engagespot Dashboard → Settings → Credentials. HTTPS enforced. No OAuth2. HMAC signature required for client SDK to prevent unauthorized user impersonation. Self-hosted: configure auth layer per deployment.

Standard HTTP status codes with JSON error bodies. 401 for invalid API key/secret pair, 400 for missing required notification fields.
