This refreshed Fly.io entry reflects the mature Fly Machines model: deploy containerized apps as fast-starting microVMs placed globally close to users, with private WireGuard networking between machines and managed Fly Postgres. Confidence is docs-derived.
The Machines API enables programmatic creation, starting, stopping, and deletion of machines -- useful for agent orchestration systems that need to spin up ephemeral compute. The flyctl CLI wraps the same API for developer use.
Access uses Fly API tokens scoped to organizations and apps. The Machines API uses Bearer token auth. Private networking uses Fly WireGuard mesh (6PN) -- machines in the same org communicate privately by default.
